One of my favorite summer hobbies is farm hopping. New York's Hudson Valley is my home away from home, and I love discovering new spots and hidden gems. Recently I cruised by Brown Barn Farms, home of Orange County Distillery. Originally a generations old onion farm it morphed into a distillery a few years back and now specializes in spirits that will put a kick in your step. Needless to say it is a wildly popular destination for both connoisseurs of that nature and your average drinking Joe (me).
On my Sunday jaunt I took to the specials menu and chose a libation to cure the torturous afternoon humidity- peach vodka on ice. I'm not particularly a vodka girl (yes way Rosé!) but something about that peach infusion could make me a convert. I think it triggered memories of the bountiful peach trees in my childhood garden. We would go summer after summer with more peaches than we could eat or give away. It was a glorious problem!
My peach vodka on ice ended up being supremely tasty, not too sweet, and so refreshing. (A note: it's actually so good. And goes down very easy. Consider yourself warned.) When I asked the bartender if they sold it she explained that the infusion process is quite easy so I picked up a bottle of their sugar beet vodka and headed home on a mission.
Peach vodka on ice is the perfect drink for your 4th of July fireworks viewing. Pop some sunflowers or fresh mint in a vessel and you're summer soirée set! The directions below are super simple because I like simple. And after all, its summertime and the living is easy. Enjoy! #itsplantporn
