Calling all cactus lovers: get yourself over to Honor Fraser Gallery and check out Rosson Crow's latest show The Happiest People on Earth.
Immediately I was drawn to Crow's next level desert landscapes and abstract eye candy, but looking again carefully I noticed in between the colorful cacti lie beer cans, newspapers headlines, and graffiti. Many a not so subtle reference to Americana not quite at its finest juxtapose the seemingly cheery show title. These powerful pieces are strong both in undertone and overtone: grabbing my attention with Crow's mixed media application (acrylic, spray-paint, photo transfer, oil, and enamel )and keeping my attention through her thought provoking nuances. Perfect timing. After seeing The Happiest People on Earth I dare say Rosson Crow is making cacti the new face of freedom. #itsplantporn
