CALADIUM CRAZE

i'm crazy for CALADIUM.

These heart shaped tropicals are definitely having a moment.  I came across a beautiful variety at my local nursery with baby pink centers and beautiful green trim and thought it would pair well  with my grey on grey  master bedroom so I took it home.  I'm so obsessed with its festive disposition in my  neutral abode that I went back to the nursery and picked up a few more to sprinkle throughout my  terrace garden.

Due to their tropical nature, Caladium can be tricky to maintain indoors depending on your home location -but not impossible! Here are some tips:

1. Think like a tropic. Caladium originated in South America; they love heat and humidity. So keep your plant away from any A/C blasts or cool air and move it close to a stuffy corner.

2. Even Caladium are UV conscious. Avoid direct sunlight so they don't burn. Place your plant in constant, indirect sunlight.

3. Water when necessary. Caladium tell you when they're are thirsty- They wilt, droop heavily, and look really sad :-( Avoid letting the soil dry out completely but if you do by accident, recharge them by sprinkling water gently over a few days to get back on track.
